Tronador Volcano is near Osorno and Calbuco volcanoes, which we looked at last week. It straddles the border between Chile and Argentina.
Unlike its two active neighbors, Tronador has been quiet for a long time, as far as geologists can tell. The peak is very popular with mountain climbers as well as tourists. Many of these people say it’s extinct. However, no one can be certain that Tronador will never erupt again.
It certainly fits the definition of a dormant volcano, though. So…let’s go play on Cerro Tronador!
Check out that view towards the end of the video. That part of Chile/Argentina is breathtakingly beautiful!
