Guest video: Flying Over the Craters of Laki

As mentioned earlier this week, I’ve just discovered Trike videos on YouTube. Here is one that has breathtaking closeups of the Laki Fissure, a/k/a the Craters of Laki.

The eruption that formed the background for this video happened in the late 18th century. It killed about a quarter of Iceland’s total population. (Update, November 28, 2014: Hazel Rymer has reviewed what sounds like an excellent book on that eruption in 1783. I just learned about it thanks to a tweet by David Bressan.)
