Reblog: Crater Lake picture

Yes, we’ve already had a general post on Crater Lake, back when I was living in upstate New York. I probably won’t get to this beautiful volcano this year, but here is an irresistibly beautiful image of the caldera lake that the US Department of the Interior tweeted today:
 

 
Now it’s just a little over a hundred miles away. Soon! Soon!

Er, Mount Mazama is a little over a hundred miles away. And it’s still an active volcano. Take your time, Earth!
 



“Don’t stop me now, I’m having a ball,” Freddie Mercury is singing in my ears just now. Quite appropriate.
