Kilauea’s 2011 Fissure Eruption

Things have been a little hectic, and I just can’t do a decent write-up on a volcano this week. Look for Santorini next week, though!

In the meantime, here’s a good video from Big Island Video News about Kilauea’s 2011 fissure eruption. That was spectacular, and some lucky volcanologists actually got to see it very close up.

 


 
Those fissures are quiet now, but Kilauea’s many-faceted 31-year eruption is still going strong. Check out the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory’s Kilauea page for more information and the latest updates!
