The Father Christmas Letters

J. R. R. Tolkien’s illustrated books are much less well known than his Middle-earth tales, but they are a special delight.

I treasure Mr. Bliss, and very much look forward to reading The Father Christmas Letters next year, when hopefully my life will have settled down enough to allow the necessary quiet time.

In the meantime, here is a video to introduce them. (It’s odd to see “Mordor-Land of Shadow” after the Father Christmas video, but that’s the YouTube moniker the original poster chose.)

What was it like to be on receiving end?

In this excerpt from an interview, one of Tolkien’s sons talks about it.
