Update: August 26, 2013, 5:51 p.m. Eastern. Aaaand, Fernand is kaput. The whole cycle lasted 24 hours or less.
Wow, I missed this one. Yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m. Central, the National Hurricane Center found tropical depression 6 over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Two hours later, they upgraded it to Tropical Storm Fernand. By 4 a.m. Central this morning, Fernand was inland over Veracruz state:
It was weakening. Six hours later, Fernand had weakened to a tropical depression again.
It’s likely that Fernand’s entire life cycle will be not much more than 24 hours.
