It’s here…fall, that is.

Puddle with autumn leaves in it in Cohoes NY

Fall puddle, October 2011, in Cohoes, New York.

Down South, where I’d like to be, they’re enjoying the break from the heat, the fall feeling in the air, the crisp and incredibly clear mornings…the Mississippi State Fair is this coming week.

Of all the natural things in the South that I enjoyed (in addition to all the urban and other human-related things), perhaps the best was the slow, lingering way of spring and fall. They take months to come in and settle down for a spell, and the change into the next season is a long, drawn-out and beautiful process.
